Is USANA Health Sciences a good partner in business? USANA was my first introduction to the MLM industry. I am no longer working the USANA business. But, before you exit away from this page and chalk me up to a biased ex-distributor that failed at USANA, here me out. Can USANA Health Sciences Inc. be the right company for you? I was first introduced to network marketing via USANA. Although, I am no longer a USANA Associate, I don't recruit people into the USANA opportunity, nor do I promote their products. But, before you discredit me and leave before hearing this valuable information, listen for a second, I did not fail at USANA, I left by choice and on great terms. I based my decision on my own review of what I wanted and needed out of a Network Marketing business model. In this review I?m going to further discuss the pros and cons based on fact, not fiction. This is a truthful look at USANA from an industry insider that will lay it on the line.



Let?s just get this out of the way, it?s obvious that USANA is not a scam. USANA has more recognition than most Network Marketing companies out there. In 1992 USANA was founded by Dr. Myron Wentz. USANA has grown positively during it's 17 years. Their products are certified by the NSF and based solely on science. All of this equals a solid company with deep roots.



An older company has it's upsides, but there are some concerns with a deeply rooted company. I take market penetration into account and would rather get involved in a budding company with less competition. For example the new Philippine, Mexico and Asia markets are booming while the North American markets are lagging behind and in need of some attention.



In weekly news letters sent to my inbox, I noticed a lot of rank advancements were being made primarily by the Asia and Mexico markets. I was quite concerned about this. You really want to be able to take advantage of growing trends, for example when google first took center stage, wouldn't you have wanted to climb on that band wagon.



Market size and penetration is crucial in evaluating a company. The nutritional industry as a whole is projected to be a Trillion dollar industry. Now, all that sounds good except for one thing. Over saturation is a huge problem with nutritional products in the MLM industry, as well as in the traditional business model. There's so much competition in that industry So unless you have the marketing knowledge and marketing dollars to set YOU apart from all those other distributors, and companies, I?d be very cautious.



USANA is a real legit company with real honest financing to back it up. It is traded on NASDAQ and therefore required to drop it's pants from time to time. This is important is choosing a solid business opportunity, you don?t want a company that?s hiding it?s money matters. According to a transcript of a webinar held on February 10, 2010, Jeff Yates USANA?s Chief Financial Officer reports, "For the full year 2009, net sales increased 1.8% to $436.9 million, which marks the seventh consecutive year of record sales for USANA." It?s note worthy to also report that North America sales decreased due to a drop in active sales associates, while the ASIA market is steadily on the rise.



In evaluating a company?s sales it?s important to understand where those sales are coming from. For example you must ask, "Are sales heavily made up of Distributors and Associates auto-shipments or can Company XYZ?s product stand on it?s own?" With USANA I found a mix. Commission eligable associates must be on a 100 point or 200 point auto-shipment, which usually translate to $150 or $250. With about 97,000 active associates in North America alone, well you can do the math, cause I?m not going to, but I know it?s going to be a big number.



USANA uses a compensation plan that's called a binary, and prides themselves in payingout the highest percentage...period. The company I?m involved with now, says the same thing. I challenge anyone to find a company in this industry that doesn?t say that or something similar. It's much like the difference between Pepsi or Coke. It all comes down to preference. The big question you must ask is...Are you being rewarded for leadership? Are you able to maximize the pay plan, meaning if you recruit 100 people while in a binary plan will you be making more or less money say if it was a matrix plan instead?



I hope that making an educated decision will be a little bit easier now that you have a more in-depth perspective, There are two pieces of advice I want to share with you. The first is, don't rush into any decision, and don't let anyone pressure you to act now. If they keep calling, don't answer until you're ready. Don't let your emotions get the best of you. Let the excitement of being presented an opportunity to make every dream you have come true subside a bit and imagine yourself day in and day out, your back up against the wall, struggling to make this USANA business work, with your last 10 dollars in your pocket?.Then ask yourself, "Do I still want to join USANA?" I say that not to scare you, but to be completely honest with you. Cause no matter what company you decide to call home, you have to know in your heart of hearts that your passion and purpose won?t be killed when the going gets tough.



My last piece of advice, learn how to market...PERIOD. Learn about sales funnels, and educate yourself about advertising. Run your business as if it were a multi-million dollar empire, if you want it to be one. Know that you will have expenses outside of your autoshipment. Learn to sell yourself first, then your goods and services?.Learn how to master that and you can join any reputable company in this industry and be at the top of it?s pay plan with a little blood, sweat, and tears. You can make money in USANA, but not unless you attain the skills and have a system that puts you in profit quickly regardless if someone joins your business or not. You'll want to be aware that in some network marketing companies a lot of their revenue come from associates auto-shipments, this is a big red flag. A company's goods or services should be able to stand on its own two feet. With USANA I found a mix. Commission eligable associates must be on a 100 point or 200 point auto-shipment, which usually translate to $150 or $250. There are over 90,000 active North American USANA associates, with other markets steadily on the rise, auto-shipment sales as well as cutomer sales are tremendous.



USANA's compensation plan is called a binary pay plan, they claim to have the highest payout percentage industry wide. I've heard this time and time again from just about every MLM around. I bet your company pay out the most..right? It?s like your local news channel, haven?t you ever noticed how every channel claims to be number one? In evaluating a pay plan, you need to know that you'll get the best return on your investment, effort, and effort of others. Are you able to maximize the pay plan, meaning if you recruit 100 people while in a binary plan will you be making more or less money say if it was a matrix plan instead?



After all is said and done, you have to make the decision for yourself. I'd like to share just two more important notes. The first is, don't rush into any decision, and don't let any pressure you to act now. If they keep calling, don't answer until you're ready. Don't let your emotions get the best of you. You've been presented a way out of what is your life, a new golden ticket, a second chance, but know that it's not all fun and games, times will be dark and desperate. I say that not to scare you, but to be completely honest with you. Cause no matter what company you decide to call home, you have to know in your heart of hearts that your passion and purpose won?t be strayed when the going gets tough.



My most valuable golden nugget is simply, learn to market effectively to the people who want what you have! Treat your little home-based-business as a BIG home based business and that's what it will become. Understand that it's best to have some working capitol, not to say you can't make it if you don't. Learn to sell yourself first, then your goods and services?.Learn how to master that and you can join any reputable company in this industry and be at the top of it?s pay plan with a little blood, sweat, and tears. There's a lot of money to be made in USANA, if you learn and apply the neccessary skills you can achieve your hearts desire.
